Family History and other things

So, here I am at the Family History Center. I work here every first and third Wednesday. Normally there are not a whole lot of people here, but tonight there are three patrons doing research. They don't need a lot of help, but at least they are here.

I have been doing research on Hypoglycemia, because I think I'm developing it. Too much sugar throughout my life, and my body just can't handle it. I need to develop a better diet, so I sent some links to some good sites home. I'll need Kathi's help sticking to the diet. No sugar. Did I say, "No Sugar" enough? I should have learned my lesson from Dad, but I didn't, and now I think I have it. I'll check with the doctor next month at my annual physical. Until then, I need to keep a food diary of everything I eat, and how I feel.

Work is good. I'm very busy. My manager is retiring, and his manager is changing positions, so there will be a lot of change coming up here pretty soon. Oh, and yes, I did appy for my manager's job. We will see how that goes.

Well, it's time to get something else done. Maybe some Family History, since I'm here.

First Vacation day of 2009

Today was supposed to be my first day back at work after the Christmas Holiday break, but Navistar decided that everyone needed to stay home, so they told us this was a manditory vacation day. So I got to stay home while Kathi went to work. I promised Kathi that I would put up the baseboard in the living room over the Christmas Break, so I started on that project today. I know, it is kind of late, but it seemed like the rest of the break was just packed with other things.

So I measured, and measured again, and then cut. I only messed up one or two cuts, and that's not bad for my first try. I've never done anything like this, so I'm just happy I didn't mess everything up. After several hours of measuring and cutting, I took all the boards upstairs and made sure they fit. After a few more cuts, everything seemed perfect, so I painted all the boards. Now I'm waiting for them to dry so that I can put on another coat. I think I should have them all installed tomorrow, then after a little putty and touchup paint, I should be finished.

Doesn't sound much like a vacation, but oh well. That's life.
